OUTGOING speaker of the Federal House of Representatives Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has been appointed as the new chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu as part of a flurry of new appointments.
On Monday, President Tinubu assumed office after a swearing-on ceremony in Abuja and as part of a settling down process has made a few key appointments. Apart from the appointment of Hon Gbajabiamila, Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former deputy governor of Jigawa State, has been named as the as deputy chief of staff.
Former Benue State governor and immediate past minister of special duties, George Akume, has also been named as the secretary to the government of the federation. Abiodun Oladunjoye, the director of information, State House, Abuja, announced the appointments, which are expected to take effect immediately.
Hon Yusuf Zailani, the speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly has hailed the appointment of Hon Gbajabiamila as the chief of staff to the president. He described the appointment as well-deserved and based on merit given his enviable pedigree in diplomacy, administration and academics.
Hon Zailani said: “I wish to applaud President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as his new chief of staff. This is indeed a good choice, considering his vast knowledge, experience and pedigree in administration and diplomacy both at national and global levels.
“I have no doubt that he will deploy his wealth of experience, national and global connections in giving Mr President the needed support to deliver on his mandate of taking the nation to the next level.” he then prayed to Almighty God to guide the new chief of staff and bless him with more wisdom as he discharges the onerous national assignment.
