NIGERIAN gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has won the Best International Act at the 2023 Premier Gospel Awards in the United Kingdom after judges decided to recognise her as the artist of the year.
At a gala dinner event, Ms Chinwo was picked as the best act of the year by a panel of judges. These Premier Gospel Awards held at the prestigious Cadogan Hall in Chelsea, London, on Friday, successfully celebrated 50 years of gospel music in the UK and handed out hongs to singers in different categories.
Ms Chinwo said: “I’m humbled and honoured to receive this prestigious award. I want to thank God for His grace and the incredible support from my fans, friends and family who have been with me on this journey. This award is not just for me, it is for everyone who believes in the power of music to touch hearts and change lives.”
She was announced alongside eight other winners including Limoblaze (best male vocalist), Annatoria (best female vocalist), Jireh (best song) and Manor Collective (best group). Other awardees were Choir of the Year (The Spirituals), Tofunmi Adorna (best newcomer), Triple O’s Everything Left Unsaid (best album) and Guvna B’s Bridgeland Road (best video).
