Liverpool look to sign Danish Nigerian teenage leftback Patrick Dorgu this summer

ENGLISH Premier League giants Liverpool are interested in signing Denmark youth international of Nigerian extraction Patrick Dorgu from Italian side Leece during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

According to Italian online media outlet Calciomercato, Liverpool have extensively scouted the young left-back ahead of possible move in the summer transfer window. Dorgu, 18, was a key member of the Lecce squad that won the youth Primavera League in 2022/23, scoring four goals in 33 appearances in the regular season, before going the distance against Fiorentina in the play-offs final.

Although Dorgu has yet to make his professional debut for Lecce, he has been invited to train with the first team a few times. Dorgu is a product of the famous FC Nordsjaelland academy that produced Tochi Chukwuani, Emeka Nnamani and the current wonderboy of Ghanaian football Mohammed Kudus.

In the past, Dorgu has been linked with moves to Troyes, one of the clubs owned by the City Football Group, as well as Racing Genk in Belgium. Dorgu is provisionally cap-tied to Denmark after featuring in a European U19 Championship qualifier in 2022, so if he want to feature for Nigeria at senior level, he will have to go through a switch with Fifa.
