ENGLISH Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur have made enquiries about Fulham's Nigeria-eligible centreback Tosin Adarabioyo with a view to signing him up during the forthcoming summer transfer window.
Adarabioyo, 25, has caught the attention of late, after enjoying a decent season in the English Premier League, leading to enquiries for his services from across Europe. Several suitors from France, Italy and England have expressed their interest in the talented former Manchester City prodigy but they may all have a fight on their hands as the centreback is highly valued by his current club.
Fulham made it clear in January that they were determined to keep Adarabioyo in their ranks, having exercised the option in his contract to extend his stay at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2024. However, this may not be enough as the demand for his services is growing, with Le Championet sides Monaco and Rennes bit also keen on signing the big centreback this summer.
Apparently, the talks regarding a new deal at Fulham have broken down, prompting the club to consider cashing in on his sale sooner rather than later. Spurs are now looking to step into the breach having identified Adarabioyo as one of their potential options to strengthen their options in the centreback position.
Spurs endured defensive struggles during the 2022/23 campaign, conceding the highest number of goals among the top 10 teams, letting in a total of 63. As new head coach Ange Postecoglou looks to revamp the backline, the club is reportedly prepared to invest heavily in securing Adarabioyo’s services.
With Tottenham’s sights set on defensive reinforcements, the potential addition of Adarabioyo would provide the club with a promising young talent who has already showcased his abilities in English football. His height, physicality and ability to read the game make him an attractive prospect for any team needing defensive stability.
