Governor Adeleke clashes with former senate spokesman over seating arrangement at prayer ground

GOVERNOR Ademola Adeleke of Osun State was caught up in a spat at the Oshogbo prayer ground today after he and former senate spokesman Senator Ajibola Basiru had an altercation over seating arrangements.

 

Earlier today, Governor Adeleke went to the Oshogbo prayer ground to as part of the Eid-el Kabir festivities. Upon getting there, his aides clashes with those of Senator Basiru, leading to the governor eventually leaving without praying as the two camps could reach an agreement on where their principals should sit.

 

Senator Basiru had arrived at the praying ground alongside some prominent Osogbo indigenes and while waiting for the prayers to commence, some people believed to be the governor’s aides informed him he was occupying the spot reserved for Governor Adeleke and was asked to move to the second row. This instruction led to disagreement and Senator Basiru eventually moved from where he earlier sat.

 

Governor Adeleke had not arrived at the premises at the time the drama over the sitting arrangement was going on. However, upon arrival, Governor Adeleke, who was ushered into the praying ground by the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Dr Tunde Badmus but he  could not proceed to the front row as the disagreement was still being resolved.

 

Later on the governor’s convoy was observed driving out of the area before the prayers started. After the prayers, the entrance to the prayer ground was locked by the police, following claims that an order had come for Senator Basiru’s arrest but the entrance was later opened and the participants left the premises.
