Arsenal sign scholarship contract with Nigeria-eligible teenage left fullback Camron Ismail

ENGLISH Premier league giants Arsenal and Nigerian teenage fullback Camron Ismail have just signed a scholarship making him the third potential Super Eagle to become one of their scholars for the 2023/24 season.

Ismail, 16, a talented left-back, joined Arsenal as an U15 player before progressing to sign scholarship terms. A galloping fullback, Ismail who featured for the U21s while he was still a schoolboy and was also involved with the U18s, relishes pushing forward and is capable of delivering dangerous crosses.

Ahead of the forthcoming season, Arsenal are set to announce their new intake of academy scholars, with at least three Golden Eaglets poised to be part of the group. Record-breaking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri and striker Daniel Oyetunde have already agreed scholarship deals with the north London club.

Ismail is eligible to represent Nigeria and Egypt through his father and mother respectively, as well as England. He is highly rated by the Arsenal youth team coaches and the fact that he made his competitive debuts for the U18s and development squad while still a schoolboy is a testament to his abilities.

Just like Tyron Akpata of West Ham United and Joshua Adepoju of MK Dons, Ismail joined Arsenal at U15 level after he was spotted playing in an Elite Development Academy Soccer shop window. In his final season as a schoolboy, Ismail played six games in the U18 Premier League and also made appearances in the U18 Premier League Cup, Premier League Cup and Premier League International Cup.
