If Tinubu is indeed the astute and shrewd politicial operator he is reputed to be, he will cut the ground beneath the feet of the Labour Party with a set of southeastern palliatives that look like this

Ayo Akinfe

[1] He will declare that he will only serve one term and then say he will support both the APC and PDP fielding presidential candidates from the southeast come 2027

[2] He will immediate reclassify the Indigenous People of Biafran (Ipob) as a socio-cultural organisation

[3] Call a meeting and get the South East Governors Forum to take over the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and turn it into a regional security body similar to Amotekun

[4] He will immediately release all agitators, Ipob members and ESN operatives in exchange for everyone with firearms laying them down under an amnesty programme

[5] He will create a Nigerian Retailers Directorate headed by Nnamdi Kanu to oversee the affairs of all Igbo traders across Nigeria. Get it to organise them into about 12 large cooperatives

[6] Initiate a return to the 1958 Lancaster House Agreement under which the federating units will control their resources. Under this plan, we will aim to scrap the federal allocation formula totally by 2030

[7] Guarantee about 15% of all security portfolios will go to the southeast. This is in line with the ratio of the Igbo population

[8] Create Anioma and Orashi states with capitals at Asaba and Omuku to represent the Igbos in Delta and Rivers states. They will bring the number of states in the southeast geo-political zone to seven

[9] Embark on a massive industrialisation programme that will turn Nnewi, Orlu and Aba into automobile, pharmaceutical and clothing/footwear manufacturing cities accounting for at least 10% of global output

[10] Transfer responsibility for building future River Niger crossings to the South East Governors Forum. Empower them to raise private capital and build as many crossings as they wish, including rail links, tunnels and under-water facilities
