NIGERIA-eligible goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri is planning to return to English Premier League side Arsenal at the end of the summer break following the end of his loan spell at Finnish Veikkausliiga clubside JK Seinajoki.
Seinajoki have said goodbye to Ejeheri following the conclusion of his loan spell at the club at the just-concluded season. Having impressed during a loan spell at National League South side Chelmsford City in the first half of the 2022/23 campaign, Ejeheri, the 2023 Flying Eagles invitee headed to Finland to complete the season at Seinajoki.
On Saturday, Ejeheri kept another clean sheet in his final game for the club as Seinäjoki defeated Honka 1-0. Over the season, the Hale End Academy graduate has posted 21 clean sheets in all competitions since making his senior debut in August, with 12 in the colours of Chelmsford City and nine for Seinäjoki.
Statistically, the 20-year-old is the best goalkeeper in the entire Finnish Veikkausliiga, having conceded just eight goals in 14 appearances, two less than KuPS' former Austria U21 international Johannes Kreidl. Seinäjoki coach Joaquín Gómez spoke highly of the Arsenal goalkeeper after his last game, labelling him a great talent.
Mr Gómez said: "He is a great talent and he had a great impact on our game. I hope he continues to develop all the way to the top of the world,"
"This was a great success for our club as well and this will help us build relationships with Arsenal and hopefully other big clubs as well. We showed that young players can develop here."
Ejeheri will now head on holiday after a hectic season that saw him play 43 matches combined for Chelmsford City and SJK. He is expected to resume training at Arsenal in August.
