Oluremi Tinubu urges governors wives to support her Renewed Hope Initiative aimed at combating poverty

NIGERIA'S first lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has urged the wives of the country's 36 state governors to formally introduce and acquaint them with the objectives and the mission of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) aimed at abolishing poverty.

At the meeting which took place in her office at the State House, Abuja, yesterday, Senator Tinubu congratulated the wives of the governors on the successful conduct of the 2023 elections which brought their husbands to office and reminded them that it is time to keep promises made during the elections. She added that she will require the support of the governors’ wives to reach every nook and cranny of the country.

According to Senator Tinubu, looking at the past can most assuredly chart a path for the present and future and this can best be done collectively for better and more sustainable impact. She assured the governors’ wives that the RHI will in no way interfere with their personal programmes and projects and that she believes that support would be impactful.

Senator Tinubu said: “I wish to remind each of us that the exalted positions we are in today should be seen as an opportunity to impact more meaningfully, not only in the lives of people in your states but Nigeria as a whole.”

Olufolake Abdulrazak, the wife of the Kwara State governor, responded by assuring of the willingness and commitment of the wives of the governors to support RHI. She stated that they will go back and elect zonal coordinators to take the mantle to ensure that the grassroots are reached.

Mrs Abdulrazak also confirmed that RHI will not in any way affect their individual projects in their various states but instead complement their efforts. RHI  is a pet project of Senator Tinubu and Mrs Abdulrazak promised full support for the initiative.
