Watford to loan Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye out to Italian side Udinese for a season

SUPER Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is set to join Italian Serie A club Udinese on a season-long loan deal from English Championship side Watford as he searches for my playing time during the 20223/24 season.

Okoye, 23, endured a disappointing first season at Vicarage Road where he saw very limited action. Before joining Watford, Okoye  was the best player at Sparta Rotterdam for two consecutive seasons but has had a torrid time in England as he ended up being the third choice goalkeeper at Vicarage Road.

Unfortunately, Okoye failed to inspire confidence at the club and had to watch from the bench throughout the season. In fact, Okoye made just two appearances for Watford last season and is now hoping that that he wins the heart of Udinese coach Andrea Sottil and gets some minutes under his belt.

Watford and Udinese have a good relationship, as the Pozzo family owns both clubs. This relationship has allowed for the seamless switch of numerous players between both clubs, with Nigerians William Troost-Ekong and Isaac Success benefitting from the relationship in the past.
