NEWLY-promoted English Premier League side Burnley are said to be preparing a €6m bid for Nigerian striker David Okereke with a view to signing him from Italian side Cremonese before the end of the current transfer window.
According to Italian transfer market portal Tuttomercatoweb, former Nigerian U23 international David Okereke is valued at between €6m and €7m by Cremonese. Burnley and Turkish side Besiktas have been monitoring Okereke for a while but at the moment, Cremonese are focused on strengthening their squad to enable them seal an immediate return to the Serie A after relegation last season.
In other words, Cremonese have to complete a few signings before the possible sale of Okereke, with further developments expected over the next few weeks. Already, the club has money in its kitty following the sale of Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers to Glasgow Rangers for a guaranteed fee of €5m.
Okereke registered 12 goals in 38 appearances for Cremonese, last season, which is not a bad return considering that the club struggled and suffered relegation. Burnley are aiming to bolster their attack this summer and have been heavily linked with a move for another striker of Nigerian descent, Nathan Tella but face a stumbling block in the form of his valuation by Southampton.
