SCOTTISH Premier league side Livingston is weighing up whether to make a move for Nigerian teenage midfielder and Flying Eagle Samson Lawal ahead of the forthcoming 2023/24 season.
Lawal, 19, an attacking midfielder, who was named in Nigeria's squad for the recent under-20 World Cup, has been training with Livingstone and featured in their 1-1 draw with Carlisle United at St Andrews on Tuesday. He currently plays for Katsina United in the Nigerian Premier League and is keen ion a move to Europe.
Livingstone manager David Martindale, said: "Samson has been in and done okay. Wee Samson has done okay and he is a young player with development on his side.
“I had a boy in from Southampton and one from Birmingham. They’re decent players but are they going to play for me now? Probably not. Is it worth them coming up here and sitting on the bench? Probably not. I don’t think it’s good for their development.
“There’s been a few in who have been decent players but they’re not going to improve the starting XI. Trialists have to be better than what’s in the building."
