Aina set to sign a two year deal with Nottingham Forest after completing medical yesterday

SUPER Eagles fullback Ola Aina is set become Nottingham Forest’s first signing of the summer joining them on a free transfer from Italian side Torino after he underwent a medical at the club's pre-season training camp in Spain yesterday.

Aina, 26, a former Chelsea academy product flew to Forest’s pre-season training camp near Valencia yesterday for the medical. He has been earmarked for a left-sided role following the end of Atletico Madrid loanee Renan Lodi’s spell at Forest, with the player now having been sold to Marseille by his parent club.

Born in Southwark, in south London, Aina came through the youth system at Chelsea, with loan spells at Hull City, Fulham and Torino, before joining the Serie A side permanently in 2019. Forest have been quieter this summer after signing 30 players in the two windows of last season but that is all about to end now.

Last summer, West Ham made enquiries about Aina's availability, as did Fulham but nothing came of either moves. Aina has been out of contract since the end of June when his deal with Torino expired and talks with several Premier League clubs have dragged on since then but the matter will now be closed with the Forest deal.

Fulham looked to be the favourites to get his signature as he had played there two seasons ago but it appears the two sides could not reach a deal. Aina is expected to sign a two-year contract with the option of a one year extension.

Once the transfer is completed, he will become the third Super Eagles player at Nottingham Forest, alongside Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis. Forest will be the fourth English club that Aina will play for after stints with Hull City, Fulham and Chelsea.
