Commercial bus driver commits suicide over his inability to repay cooperative society loan

ONDO commercial bus driver simply identified only as Ayokunle has committed suicide at Oke Ibukun in Ondo town of Ondo State after it dawned on him that he would be unable to repay a loan he took from a cooperative society.

According to an eyewitness, Ayokunle, who was found dead in his room over the weekend,  took his own life by drinking poison.  The source said the deceased Ayokunle was an executive member of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the town.

One RTEAN member said: "We  were surprised to hear  that he died on Saturday.  I saw him on Friday and there was no sign that he would be no more on Saturday, so it is sad.”

Ondo State Police Command public relations officer Femi Joseph, said the matter was not officially reported at any police station in the town. He added that he has e contacted police divisions in Ondo town and as of now, the matter was not reported at any station.
