Nigeria's planned friendly against Argentina in March rescheduled to take place in the US

NIGERIA'S planned friendly against Argentina that was due to take place at China's Olympics Sports Centre in Hangzhouom between March 18  and 26 looks to have now been rescheduled to take place in the US.

Originally billed to take place during the next Fifa window, the game was part of Argentina's preparations for the Copa América taking place between June 20 and July 14, for which it is also the defending champions. However, earlier this month, the Chinese pulled out of hosting the game following contractual disagreements with Argentine skipper Lionel Messi.

This put the Nigeria game, as well another planned friendly between Argentina and African champions Ivory Coast in jeopardy. However, both matches have now been moved to the US and the long-expected showdown between Lionel Messi and African Player of the Year Victor Osimhen, is back on.

In addition to the Argentina match, the Super Eagles are also scheduled to face El Salvador in another international friendly at the same venue in the US that week. Both games will prepared the team for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers which resume in June but it is not yet clear who will manage the team as Jose Peseiro's contract has expired and the process of finding a replacement has not yet begun.
