Super Eagles to play friendly against Uganda's Cranes next month at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba

NIGERIAN Football Federation (NFF) officials have reached a deal with the Ugandan Football Association involving the playing of a friendly match between the Super eagles and the Cranes at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba next month.

To take place during the November Fifa window on the 20th, the match will be the second friendly meeting between both teams in three years. During their last encounter, Uganda defeated Nigeria 1-0 as part of the opening ceremony of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Nigeria is eyeing qualification for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year and the game will be played after the Eagles' qualifiers tie against South Africa on November 17,which could potentially seal their spot at the tournament. Uganda also a win away from securing its spot at the African soccer fiesta, which comes up once every two years.

Before the match takes place though, the NFF will have to work on the pitch as Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is not happy with the playing surface. At the stadium earlier this week to watch the Aiteo Cup final, Mr Rohr said the stadium needs to be worked on as it is not befitting for a game of the senior national team of Nigeria.

During the November Fifa window, Cameroon will face Brazil at the MK Dons Stadium in the UK as part of their preparations for the Nations Cup. It will be the sixth meeting between Cameroon and Brazil, who have won four and lost one of the previous matches between both sides.
