Ovie Ejaria follows in the footsteps of Umar Sadiq and leaves Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers

NIGERIAN Ovie Ejaria has joined compatriot Umar Sadiq and left Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers after manager Steven Gerrard gave him permission to leave and return to his parent club Liverpool after a spell of poor performances.

Umar, 21, joined Rangers from Italian side Roma in the summer but has returned to his parent club after a bitterly disappointing loan spell in Glasgow. Former Nigeria U17 trainee Ovie Ejaria, who was supposed to spend the entirety of this season on loan from English Premier League side Liverpool, has now joined him and left too.

Despite getting off to a promising start in Glasgow, Ejaria suddenly fell from grace and he has now cleared all references to Rangers on his social media platforms. Yesterday, he was not part of the matchday squad for the Europa League, where the team crashed out of the competition after losing 0-1 to Austria Wien, finishing third in their group.

Gerrard revealed that Ejaria was left out of the squad because he is highly unsettled and although he planned to have talks with the 21 year old, it appears the midfielder has made his mind up to quit the league. Some sources say he quit the Scottish Premier League due to the physical nature of the game there, which the player did not find appealing.

With 28 games played for Rangers this season, Ejaria has been linked with a move to Germany or probably the Netherlands when the transfer window opens in January. In contrast, Umar failed to start a single Scottish Premiership game during a terrible five months there and Gerrard made it clear he had lost faith in the striker.

Meanwhile, Nigerian U20 midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh has agreed fresh terms with English Premier League side Bournemouth keeping him at the club till the summer of 2021.Ofoborh, 19, made his international debut for Nigeria's Flying Eagles in March in a two legged friendly tie against Egypt, was voted the club’s young player of the year for last season and is expected to make his debut for the first team before the end of the current season.
