Iwobi adjudged to be the fourth best passer of the ball across Europe's five major leagues

SUPER Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi has been adjudged to be the fourth best passer of the ball in Europe's five major leagues this season by football analyst Ray Hamill  following a survey of box-to-box possession.

Iwobi, 22, has managed to force his way into the Arsenal team on a regular basis this season and is now one of its most reliable players. According Mr Hamill's survey, Iwobi is one of the leading players in Europe this season for making open play passes in the penalty area  over 90 minutes.

He is listed ahead of the likes of  Eden Hazard, Riyad Mahrez, Leroy Sane and Mesut Ozil with 2.86 passes per 90 minutes. Just published, the survey measures the rate at which a player is able to penetrate the opposition’s box with their passing.

With the arrival of Unai Emery as the Arsenal manager this season, Iwobi has rediscovered the form that saw him break into the Gunners team as a teenager under former manager Arsene Wenger. His improved form has made him a fans favourite with the Arsenal faithful as is the case with Nigerian fans.

Europe's five major leagues include the English Premiership, Italy's Serie A, Spain's La Liga, the German Bundesliga and France's Ligue One. Arsenal currently sit fourth in the English Premier league behind Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Spurs and are aiming to qualify for next year's Uefa Champions league.
