Christian Association of Nigeria asks technical crew to be more meticulous after Osinbajo survives crash

CHRISTIAN Association of Nigeria (Can) president Pastor Samson Ayokunle has reacted to the helicopter crash involving vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo by calling on technicians responsible for maintaining aircraft used by government officials to be more meticulous.

Yesterday, Professor Osinbajo survived a crash in Kabba on Kogi State, when the helicopter in which he was travelling crash landed in the local stadium. Miraculously, he and all those onboard survived without sustaining any injuries and the vice president was able to continue his campaign tour of Kogi State.

There has been widespread relief across Nigeria following the escape as Professor Osinbajo is widely regarded as the sharpest mind in this government and the intellectual guru of this administration. In a statement issued by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the Can president's spokesman, Pastor Ayokunle, said the body was grateful to God and rejoiced with the federal government.

Pastor Ayokunle said: “We give glory to God for sparing the life of the vice president and his team from the helicopter crash while mobilising support for his party in preparation for the coming general elections. We recalled that he had similar experience last year while visiting the Nigeria Customs College in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

“It is our prayers that God will continue to watch over him and other top government functionaries in Jesus’ name. We urge the technical team or those responsible for the certification of the aircraft and helicopters for use by the government officials to be more meticulous so as to avoid putting the lives of the users in danger.

He prayed that may God continue to watch over Nigeria's leaders and the rest of the country in the name of Jesus. There have been similar sympathetic reactions from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, who have also expressed delight that Professor Osinbajo survived.
