Peter Obi claims he has been harassed by security forces as APC step up intimidation in Anambra

PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate Peter Obi has accused security forces in his native Anambra State harassing him and his supporters in the run-up to today's elections.

Voting has already commenced in Nigeria's general elections, which will see the electing of a president, senators and members of the House of Representatives. Mr Obi, the former Anambra State governor is the running mate of the PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is standing against the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Over recent weeks, the PDP has accused the ruling APC of engaging in the intimidation and harassment of the opposition. Last night, Mr Obi said security operatives in Anambra State were being used to intimidate his party members and he himself was visited along with several other PDP leaders.

Governor Obi said: “I don’t know of arrests but visiting and harassment capital yes, including myself.”
