10 things President Buhari must now do to heal Nigeria's post election divisions

[1] Get the federal government to drop all charges against Nnamdi Kanu and recognise the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) as a legitimate pressure group

[2] Ask the police to clamp down on the Fulani cattle herdsmen. Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (Macban) leaders must be questioned regarding their role in these incessant attacks. All the victims in the Middle Belt must also be offered compensation

[3] Get rid of the cabal around Aso Rock, who are making him a sectional champion. The likes of Abba Kyari, Mamman Daura, Isa Funtua and Baba Kana Gingibe must be shown the door immediately

[4] Hand over the running of the economy to the National Economic Council chaired by vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Let them run the economy as they see fit and he just endorse their actions. Prof Osinbajo should be free to appoint members who he believes in, with President Buhari not having any input into the process

[5] Immediately institute a presidential committee to start addressing the issue of restructuring. They should look at the 2014 National Confab report and the communique signed at the end of the 1958 Lancaster House Conference

[6] Ensure that there will be equitable distribution of appointments in his second term. Each geo-political zone must have as many heads of parastatals as all the others. Ethnically biased lopsided appointments must be made illegal

[7] Immediately release Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Shiite Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and drop all charges against its members. Compensation should be paid to all its members who have lost their lives

[8] Commit to paying a minimum wage of at least N50,000 a month in a bid to lift people out of poverty. Divert the money from the Tradermoni programme to this under an industrial development plan

[9] Set himself a target of a $1trn economy and an annual budget of $100bn by 2023. Our current economic arrangement will only continue to breed almajiris and exacerbate poverty

[10] End all of the political trials that are made to look like the fight against corruption. If we have the likes of Fayose, Onnoghen, etc facing trial, so too should the likes of Akpabio, Obanikoro, Ganduje. They should all be tried together or granted amnesty together
