Eagles head coach Rohr confirms that striker Odion Ighalo will be in squad to face Cameroon

FORMER Watford striker Odion Ighalo has been invited to camp by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr ahead of Nigeria's impending World Cup qualifier against Cameroon's Indomitable Lions next month.

In what is now a crunch game for both teams, Nigeria and Cameroon will lock horns at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on September 1 and then again in Yaoundé three days later. If Nigeria wins both games, she has effectively qualified for Russia 2018 but Cameroon will be desperate for points having only drawn her first two matches.

Mr Rohr, who is presently drawing up the list of players he plans to use to prosecute both games, confirmed that Ighalo will be in the squad against Cameroon. This will mark a return for the striker who was not called up for the 0-2 loss against South Africa in the 2019 African Nations Cup qualifier.

Ighalo has been in fine form for his Chinese side Chanchung Yatai and according to Mr Rohr he will be in the squad. Rohr also dropped a hint about a possible recall for another Chinese based striker Obafemi Martins as he confirmed he is looking at other experienced players to beef up the attack of the team.
