Ilaje youths barricade Governor Akeredolu in his office as they protest the neglect of their community

ONDO State's Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been barricaded in his office by youths from Local Government Area of the state who are protesting his neglect of the oil-producing region.

 

Ilaje is one of the two local governments in Ondo State that is oil-producing but despite being cash cow  that generates millions of dollars for the economy. As a result, the youths from the area protested the alleged diversion of funds meant for the region by the governors' administration.

 

This morning, the youths mounted human barricade at two gates of the governor’s office at Alagbaka in the Government Reservation Area of the state capital Akure.  They prevented workers of the governor’s office from gaining access into the complex.

 

During the protest, they also insisted that the governor must attend to them and as well address them before they allow anyone into the premises. Policemen were later called in to try and ensure the free flow of traffic.
