Arsenal sign Nigerians youngsters Ovie Ejeheri and Daniel Oyegoke ahead of new season

ENGLISH Premier League giants Arsenal have signed Nigerian youngsters Ovie Ejeheri and Daniel Oyegoke ahead of the forthcoming season as part of the club's reinforcement of its youth academy.

Ejeheri is a goalkeeper while Oyegoke is a right-back. Both players will play for Arsenal’s U18s during the course of the 2019/20 season and will hope to break into the senior squad in due course.

Arsenal finished outside of the English Premier League top-four last season and are hoping to improve on this over the forthcoming season. Unai Emery’s side were also defeated by Chelsea in the Uefa Europa League final last season, so reinforcing the squad has become a major priority for the Gunners.

Traditionally, Arsenal has always had a vibrant youth policy that brings on young players through its ranks. Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi is one player who came through the Arsenal youth ranks and the club will be hoping that Ejeheri and Oyegoke can follow in his footsteps.

Privileged to have a large following in Nigeria, Arsenal is also the club most Nigerians in the UK support, partly due to the fact that it has always signed high profile Super Eagles players like Iwobi and Nwankwo Kanu. Iwobi is currently with the Super Eagles in Egypt, where they are featuring in the African Cup of Nations.
