Iwobi scores first Premier League goal for his new side Everton as they beat Wolves 3-2

SUPER Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi has scored his first goal for his new club Everton in the English Premier league after netting in the 12th minute today when the Toffees beat visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at Goodison Park.

Last month, Iwobi left Arsenal and joined league rivals Everton in a £40m deal that involves him signing a five year contract with the Merseyside club nicknamed The Toffees. Iwobi, 23, who rose through the youth ranks at Arsenal, breaking into the first-team squad in 2015 and went on to make 149 appearances for the north Londoners, became Nigeria's most expensive transfer ever after moving to Everton.

Today, he repaid some of the transfer fee by inspiring Everton to a win that saw him and Brazilian striker Richarlison grab the goals. Wolves gifted the home side the opening goal in the fifth minute after a defensive mix-up between defender Conor Coady and goalkeeper Rui Patricio presented the ball to Richarlison, who fired home.

Everton were equally generous four minutes later as Adama Traore sent a low ball into the box and defender Seamus Coleman stopped it in front of the goal, teeing it up for Romain Saiss to poke home the equaliser. Iwobi, however, put his side ahead again three minutes later, rising to head home Gylfi Sigursson’s cross.

Wolves' Raul Jimenez stooped to head home a flick-on from a long throw to put them level again in the 75th minute, however, Everton grabbed a late winner five minutes later.= Richarlison secured all three points for the home side in the 80th minute, out-jumping Willy Boly to give his side the lead for the third time.
