Enyeama says he will honour invitation to play for Super Eagles if Rohr invites him

FORMER Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama has revealed that he is open to the idea of representing Nigeria again if he is called up by coach Gernot Rohr despite having retired from the national team four years ago.

Enyeama, 36, resigned from international football in 2015 after a row with former coach Sunday Oliseh and despite talks with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) about reversing his decision he stuck to his guns and stayed away. In a surprise announcement, however, Enyeama has revealed that he will show up if recalled.

Only recently, Enyeama failed to bag a deal with Ligue Two side Dijon but reports indicate he is close to a move as a free agent over the next few weeks. Since then he has indicated that he is willing to represent Nigeria even though it is not a top priority ‎for him at the moment, especially as there are a lot of young goalkeepers available.

Enyeama added:  “Nigeria is my country and I’m still ready to serve. If they want me to play and I am invited, I’ll still play & win games for the country.

“However, it isn’t my priority. We have the young ones coming up and they should be given the opportunity to showcase what they’ve got.”
