Leicester fans rubbish Arsenal's bid for Ndidi saying he only wears red socks and underwear

LEICESTER City fans have taken to social media to ridicule plans by new Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to snap up Wilfred Ndidi for a combination of a fee of £40m and Granit Xhaka in exchange saying the only red their star midfielder will ever wear is underwear.

Yesterday, Arsenal was reported to be considering offering offered Premier League rivals Leicester a cash sum of £40m in addition to Xhaka in an audacious bid to lure the Super Eagles midfielder to the Emirates during the forthcoming transfer window. Mr Arteta, who took up the post of Arsenal manager yesterday, has made strengthening his defence and midfield his number one priority.

Currently sitting in 10th place in the Premier League table, Arsenal have conceded a total of 27 goals in 17 games this season. Over the last two seasons, Ndidi has won more tackles in the English Premier league than any other player and is regarded as the best ball winner in the league.

Already, the Gunners are planning a clear-out with Xhaka and fellow midfielder Mesut Ozil expected to leave, with Ndidi seen as the man to fill the void. If Arsenal can complete a stunning swoop, the club may have finally found the Patrick Vieira-like midfield figure it has been crying out for over the past 15 years.

However, Leicester City fans have rubbished the plans, saying pigs have a better chance of flying than Wilfred Ndidi ever wearing red, other than underwear or socks. Many of the fans even joked about how they were checking their calendars just to make sure April Fool's day did not happen twice in 2019 and their legs were being pulled.

After the 2018 World Cup, Ndidi signed a new contract that will keep him at the King Power Stadium until the end of the 2023/24 season.  Earlier this month, Leicester offered Ndidi a new contract said to be worth as much as £70,000 a season in a bid to keep him settled as rumours of offers keep coming up daily.
