Buhari to arrive in London this Wednesday as he embarks upon a 20-day medical vacation

PRESISDENT Muhammadu Buhari is expected in the UK this Wednesday as he is scheduled to take a 20-day vacation during which it is expected that he will meet with his medical doctors and have a health check.

In what is now becoming a yearly ritual, President Buhari spends his annual leave in London, during which time he consults with his doctors. Since assuming office in 2015, President Buhari makes at least two health trips to the UK a year, during which he hands over the reins of power to vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

This time around, it is not known if President Buhari will be formally writing to the National Assembly to hand over authority. According to the presidency, President Buhari will leave Abuja for London on Wednesday for a 20 days visit to the UK.

At the end of his holiday, President Buhari will leave the UK for Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to attend a summit. From there, he will fly on to Austria for the World Economic Summit, before returning to Nigeria on April 4.

Undoubtedly, this trip will raise further questions about the state of President Buhari's health, particularly as he was in London last month. While attending the UK-Africa Summit in January, it is believed that President Buhari would have met with his doctors and for him to have to return to London so soon indicates that there may be issues.
