Nigerian Direct Diaspora Investment Summit UK activist Dele Jalad becomes latest Covid-19 victim

NIGERIAN community activist in the UK Dele Jalad has become the latest victim of the global pandemic coronavirus after he succumbed to the virus yesterday and passed away in hospital.

Mr Jalad was an active member of the Nigerian Direct Diaspora Investment Summit UK group and a key official of the University of Ilorin alumni association in the UK. Apparently, he died after going into hospital originally to treat a stomach ailment but his situation deteriorated leading to him requiring oxygen.

It appears that he contracted coronavirus along the way and as such needed to be put on a ventilator. However, due to the scarcity of ventilators in hospitals as the pandemic bites, they have to be shared and it appears that Mr Jalad passed away when his was taken away to allow someone else use it.

Over the last couple of weeks, Mr Jalad had been active in the fight against Covid-19, urging Nigerians in the UK to obey health guidelines on social; distancing. Mr Jalad is believed to be survived by a son and a daughter, both of whom are resident in the UK.
