Another Nigerian community leader in the UK succumbs to coronavirus in Manchester

NIGERIA'S diaspora community in the UK has lost among prominent member to the dreaded coronavirus pandemic after the founder and chief executive of Omtel Radio in Manchester Evangelist Michael Olusesan succumbed to the virus.

Evangelist Olusesan, 55, who was popularly known as Baba 1010 within the Nigerian community in the Manchester area, passed away yesterday at the North Manchester Hospital. He was a well known broadcaster, musician and health worker, founding his radio station which was accessible on www.omtelradio.com.

He has become the latest Nigerian to succumb to the killer virus, which has been very ruthless in the UK, affecting 98,476 people, leading to 12,868 deaths. More people have been infected in the UK than in China where the virus originated from and about four times as many Britons have died from it compared with China.

Bukola Adekugbe, the chairman of the Nigerian Community in Rochdale, said that Evangelist Olusesan, who worked for the National Health Service will be sorely missed. She added that he is survived by a wife and children and the thoughts of the community are with his immediate family at the moment.
