Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa eyes Brugge's Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis

NIGERIAN striker Emmanuel Dennis could become the next Super Eagle to play in the English Premier league after newly-promoted Leeds United joined the growing list of clubs seeking his services ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Dennis, 22, currently plays for Belgium's Club Brugge but had been the subject of a lot of transfer talk lately, with the likes of Sheffield United,  Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers all making enquiries about him. A big targetman who holds the ball up well, Dennis made his debut for the Super Eagles on September 10 last year in a 2–2 friendly draw with Ukraine, coming on as a 82nd-minute substitute for Samuel Chukwueze.

During the 2019/20 season, Dennis scored nine goals and supplied two assists before the Belgian season was cancelled as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. With the English Premier League due to resume on September 12, Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds United's veteran coach is keen to sign Dennis as he looks to strengthen his squad.

Highly rated across Europe, two of Dennis’ goals last season came in a shock 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League. Bielsa sees Dennis as the ideal targetman to compete with his current striker Patrick Bamford for a starting shirt as he prepares for life in the Premier League.

Dennis, who can also play out wide is understood to come with a big price tag of up to £22.7m. Although this should not be a problem for any English Premier League side, there may be some concerns over the high number of injuries Dennis has had over the last season.
