Nnamdi Kanu asks Ipob members to arrest Governor Ikpeazu and get him arraigned for killing protesters

INDIGENOUS People of Biafra (Ipob) leader Nnamdi Kanu has told his followers to capture Abia State's  Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and get him to face trial for the role he played in the killing of #ENDSARS protesters in the state.

Over the last two days, Nigeria has been on fire, with security forces and protesters clashing across the nation. After two weeks of peaceful protests aimed at getting the government to end police brutality and scrap the Special Anti Robbery Squad (Sars) unit involved in extra-judicial killings and extortion, events turned ugly on Tuesday.

In Lagos State alone, the military are believed to have shot 38 people dead, with the shooting of young protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate being the most infamous instance. As anger over the mauling down of innocent youths armed with nothing but the national flag grew, the demonstrations have spread across Nigeria.

In Abia State for instance, things turned ugly in Aba yesterday when a policeman fired shots at #EndSARS protesters, who refused to disperse when ordered to do so by the police. This led to a clash with the protesters during which the policeman was killed, while over 15 protesters were said to have sustained injuries from gunshots.

Consequently, in response, the angry youths burnt down a police station along the Umuoba Road axis of Ogbor Hill in Aba. Governor Ikpeazu has revealed that at least two police officers have been killed while two police stations have been destroyed, so he imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state capital, Umuahia and the commercial city of Aba.

It is not yet clear how many people were killed in Aba but there is anger across the state, forcing Governor Ikpeazu to keep a low profile. In a statement that he personally signed, Mr Kanu ordered that Governor Ikpeazu must be apprehended  anywhere he was sighted, urging the #EndSARS protesters not to give up.

Mr Kanu said: “Okezie Ikpeazu is in Asaga village Ohafia. He is hiding in the house of his chief of staff, one Ukpai Agwu Ukpai.

“Our youths in Ohafia are hereby instructed to capture him alive to face trial for the numerous murders he committed including the death of protesters on Tuesday in Aba. On no account must he be allowed to leave Ohafia alive. It's an order.

 “We call on every youth, man and woman to join the protests now. This is the time everybody should identify with this movement  to rescue our collective future and destiny from suffocation.”
