Aisha Buhari's aide denies she fled for her life saying she only went abroad for medical treatment

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari's wife Aisha has debunked claims that she fled to Dubai amid concerns for her security in Aso Rock pointing out that she only travelled to the United Arab Emirates to get medical treatment.

Last week, it was  reported that Hadjia Aisha Buhari abandoned the Aso Rock presidential villa and fled to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates amid security concerns, after claiming that she does not feel safe in Abuja. Over recent years, Hadjia Buhari has been very critical of the activities of the cabal close to her husband and had repeatedly clashed with the members of his kitchen cabinet.

On  at least three occasions, she has publicly called for the government to be taken back from this cabal and handed over to the cabinet. Given that Hadjia Buhari has spent three months in Dubai and is not in a hurry to return, it is believed by insiders that the Presidential Villa was no longer secure for her family.

Hadjia Buhari’s concern is said to have been triggered by a shooting incident which occurred in June. Back then, a crisis ensued after her security details removed President Buhari’s personal assistant, Sabiu Yusuf over Covid-19 scares and it is believed the incident made her flee Nigeria.

However, Kabiru Dodo, one of Hadjia Buhari aides denied all this yesterday, saying that she only left Nigeria for medical treatment and will be returning to the country when she has recovered. Speaking in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital over the weekend when the first lady's foundation presented some items to widows, Mr Dodo said his principal travelled out of the country for medical check-up.

Mr Dodo said: “The first lady travelled for her medical trip, she did not flee the country because of insecurity. She left her children, her husband and family in Nigeria, so what people are saying is baseless and worth nothing to be considered.

“I want to tell the whole world that I do speak to her on daily basis and she is ready to return to the country as soon as she is done with the medical treatment abroad.”
