Inaugural Air Peace 11-hour non-stop flight to Jamaica leaves Lagos enroute to Montego Bay

NIGERIAN leading airline Air Peace has stepped up its expansion into the international market with the launch of an 11-hour non-stop flight between Lagos and the Jamaican city of Montego Bay this week.

Yesterday, the maiden flight left the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos for Jamaica according to Stanley Olisa, Air Peace's spokesman. He added that the airline deployed one of its three Boeing 777 aircraft, with registration number 5N-BVE for the historic flight, which departed from Lagos at 5pm conveying 132 passengers to Jamaica.

According to Mr Olisa, it was a special charter flight which indicated the airline’s capability to operate flights to any destination in the world. He said added that Air Peace would fly into Montego Bay again on December 27 and return on December 28, adding that the airline has the aircraft and the requisite manpower to do this.

Mr Olisa said: “Air Peace has operated international flights to multiple destinations such as China, Turkey, India, Malaysia, Israel, United Kingdom, Thailand and Indonesia. Air peace also recently launched scheduled direct flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, providing respite to travellers on the Lagos-Johannesburg-Lagos route and connecting the two giant African countries at affordable fares.”

Highly praised for its role during the height of the coronavirus pandemic when it successfully evacuated Nigerian citizens from around the world, Air Peace has been touted as a future national carrier. Although it is primarily a domestic airline, of late. Air Peace has begun to expand into the international market.

Last year, Air Peace concluded a deal with Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer to supply it with three E195-E2 aircraft as part of a programme to expand its fleet with new planes. Nigeria's fastest-growing airline, Air Peace prices itself on being very professional and even has an all-female crew on some of its flights.
