Buhari needs to go introduce a multi-ethnic rehabilitation regime to avoid being constantly boxed into a narrow cul-de-sac

(1) Meet with traditional rulers from each geo-political zone once a month

(2) Create a six-man Federal Character Presidential Committee that will vet all personal decisions he takes. It will have one member from each geo-political zone

(3) Offer a one-off payment to any new couples who enter into a multi-ethnic marriage

(4) Get the phrase state of origin made a criminal offence or hate speech. Replace it with state of birth

(5) Pay relocation packages to people willing to relocate to large sparsely populated states in northern Nigeria like Borno, Niger, Adamawa, Taraba, Zamfara and Yobe. They will also enjoy all the benefits of local citizens

(6) Pass laws making it compulsory for every state governor to appoint at least one commissioner from another ethnic group/geo-political zone

(7) Pass laws making it illegal for states to use federal funds for day-to-day running costs

(8) Run all appointments by the governors forums of all six geo-political zones before confirming them

(9) End the practice of ministers being able to award contracts to their cronies. All tenders must be published online with bids accepted in full public view

(10) Introduce monthly cultural days when all political office holders must wear the traditional attires of different ethnic groups. Isiagu, danshiki, kaftan, fedora, etc
