Buhari returns to Nigeria after three weeks in the UK which he rounded off with visit to Tinubu

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari will return to Nigeria after two weeks in the UK where among other things he attended Global Partnership for Education (GPE) summit and then spent the last week with his doctors receiving medical attention.

On July 26, President Buhari left Nigeria for London where he teamed up with several other African leaders and British prime minister Boris Johnson for the GPE summit. At the gathering, President Buhari committed to raising Nigeria's education budget by 50% over the next two years, adding that the country would attain a 100% increase by 2025.

At the end of the summit, President Buhari spent an extra week in the UK for what his spokesman Femi Adesina said was an earlier scheduled medical check-up. Yesterday, President Buhari rounded up his stay in the UK by visiting the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is also believed to be receiving medical treatment in London.

President Buhari's plane is expected to arrive back in Abuja at 5pm Nigerian time. Already, security agencies in the Federal Capital Territory have been mobilised for the president’s return.
