New Spurs manager considers promoting Arsenal-trained defender Tobi Omole to first team

NEW Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has begun considering Nigerian-born centreback Tobi Omole with a view to promoting him to the first team once the English Premier League resumes after the international break.

At the beginning of the month, Italian manager Conte signed an 18-month deal with Spurs after Nuno Espirito Santo was dismissed, following the team's 0-3 home loss to Manchester United. Following his appointment, has begun looking at ways to strengthen his team and one option he is seriously considering is the Arsenal-trained Omole.

In theory, Omole can be regarded as a first teamer as he is technically included in Spurs' 22-man Premier League squad as well as the club's Europa Conference League squad. However, he has yet to make his senior debut for the north London club, although he has made the bench in about three games so far this season.

Last Thursday, Conte monitored Omole, 21, at close quarters and was impressed with the fact that despite being a central defender, he can also be played as a defensive midfielder of left fullback. Omole, 21.  Spurs will host Leeds United in their first game after the international break on November 21.
