Dangote and Emefiele praise Governor Abiodun for making Ogun an investor-friendly state

GOVERNOR Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has been praised by Africa's richest man Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Godwin Emefiele the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor for introducing investor-friendly policies.

Speaking yesterday during the commissioning of the 42km Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta dual carriageway by the President Muhammadu Buhari, the duo said that Ogun State is now an investor-friendly environment.  Alhaji Dangote in particular applauded Governor Abiodun’s style of governance and his private-sector imprint on governance in the state.

He added: "Abiodun is coming with a lot of private sector experience and we as industrialists in the state don’t even have to tell him what we need, as he is one of us. I think having Abiodun there as the governor is attracting a lot of investors to the state.

"Any serious investor doesn’t have to think about it. They should just move there and invest.” Dangote said.

According to Alhaji Dangote, Governor Abiodun, swung into action and fixed the abandoned road linking Ogun State with Epe in Lagos State. He further described the governor’s emergence as a breath of fresh air for many investors in the state.

Alhaji Dangote added: “That road had been abandoned for many years. You can see how he quickly moved into action to fix it.”

Mr Emefiele recalled that upon assumption of office, Governor Abiodun approached the CBN with his development blueprint. The list, he noted, included agriculture, infrastructure and improving the ease-of-doing business that would foster the establishment of more manufacturing companies in Ogun State.

“I must say he has done an excellent job, beginning with the very impressive internally generated revenue growth that stands out. This is primarily because he has been able to attract more investors to establish in Ogun State.

"I would like to congratulate him and his people. I think this gives more people in the private sector the tonic to want to come into governance,” Mr Emefiele added.
