Governor Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom picks land and water resources commissioner as his successor

GOVERNOR Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has anointed his lands and water resources commissioner Pastor Uno Eno as his successor saying that he will do everything he can to ensure he emerges as the next chief executive.

Nigeria is due to hold her general elections in February next year and Akwa Ibom is one of those states where a new governor will be elected. Over recent months, Governor Emmanuel, whose second term ends next year, has promised to reveal his preferred candidate and did so yesterday, bringing about an end to months of speculations.

Ending the suspense at a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Uyo yesterday, Governor Emmanuel threw his weight behind Pastor Eno's bid to clinch the party's gubernatorial ticket. Former governor Obong Victor Attah, made the formal presentation of Pastor Eno to the stakeholders, who were leading political chieftains from the three senatorial districts of the state.

All the stakeholders present lauded the governor for picking Pastor Eno as his successor and promised to work towards his victory in 2023. Responding, Pastor Eno thanked God and the governor for finding him worthy of the onerous task to lead the people of the state and continue the people-focused and developmental strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Bishop Uma Ukpai and the Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Sunday Mbang prayed for him at the event. Also, the Oku Ibom Ibibio and the chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, Obong Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, prayed for him too.
