Soludo apologises for fight saying he is looking to resolve dispute between Bianca and Mrs Obiano

NEWLY elected Anambra State governor Professor Charles Soludo has apologised to all Anambrans for the recent fracas at his swearing-in ceremony when the wife of the immediate past governor Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano went to inexplicably hit Bianca Ojukwu.

This morning, Professor Soludo took over from Willie Obiano as the Anambra State governor but just as the ceremony was ending, Mrs Obiano went up to Bianca, the wife of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and slapped her face. This incident occurred immediately after Governor Soludo took his oath of office after being sworn-in by the  chief judge of Anambra State Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, at exactly 9.45 am.

Mrs Obiano's action drew the attention of security agents and some personalities who pulled her off Bianca, who was visibly shocked at the assault. Mrs Obiano was later taken away and shortly afterwards, her husband left the venue since the incident happened after the new governor had been sworn in.

Apologising for the embarrassment, Governor Soludo issued a press statement saying the fight was caused by a breach of protocol. In a press release signed by his media aide Joe Anatune, the new governor added that moves are underway to resolve the dispute between the two ladies.

Mr Anatune said: “Professor Soludo hereby apologizes to all Anambra people, friends and guests who attended his inauguration this morning as the Anambra State governor for the breach of protocol. The breach was caused by improper communication which itself arose from a personal issue between the two parties involved in the breach.

“Steps are being taken to resolve the misunderstanding and restore the parties to their previous relationship. Anambra State has over the years been known for a huge stock of social harmony and the stock will increase substantially in the years ahead as part of the concerted effort to accelerate the state’s development.”
