EFCC arrest another Nigerian on FBI wanted list nabbing Owerri clergyman Pastor Anozie

NIGERIA'S Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has just arrested another big fraudster who was on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) wanted list when it nabbed clergyman Kelechi Vitalis Anozie.

 

Today, EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, announced that Pastor Anozie, the founder of Praying City Church located in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has been arrested. He added that Pastor Anozie was nabbed following intelligence linking him to alleged conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering.

 

Apparently, Pastor Anozie is on the FBI watch list along with four accomplices identified as  Valentine Iro, Ekene Ekechukwu (alias Ogedi Power), Bright Azubuike (alias Bright Bauer Azubuike) and Ifeanyi Junior. Mr Uwujaren said: “They are alleged to have defrauded one FF, who lives in Illinois, if the sum of $135,800 and another $47,000.”

 

In Monday this week, the EFCC announced the arrest of another FBU wanted man Osondu Victor Igwilo. He had been on the FBI wanted list since 2018 for an array of crimes that include money laundering and aggravated identity theft.

 

According to the EFCC, Mr Igwilo, 42, was arrested alongside Okafor Nnamdi Chris, Nwodu Uchenna Emmanuel and John Anazo Achukwu, at a studio in the Sangotedo area of Lagos. Delighted with the development, the US Mission in Nigeria issued a congratulatory statement to the EFCC immediately the anti-corruption agency announced the arrest of Mr Igwilo.
