Rivers State Police Command arrests PDP gubernatorial candidate at Wike's request

RIVERS State gubernatorial candidate and the lawmaker representing the Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency  Hon Farah Dagogo has been arrested by the police at the request of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Earlier this week, Governor Wike threatened to have Hon Dagogo, an aspirant seeking to get the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) gubernatorial ticket arrested. Yesterday, the police effected this arrest, picking up Hon Dagogo while he appeared at the screening exercise of the PDP governorship aspirants in Port Harcourt.

Ibrahim Lawal, Hon Dagogo's spokesman, said: “Mr Dagogo was arrested in the governorship screening hall by some police officers and taken to an unknown location.” Governor Wike had threatened to gave Hon Dagogo arrested, declaring the lawmaker wanted for allegedly hiring thugs to attack the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt.

However, Hon Dagogo denied the allegation, accusing Governor Wike of trying to prevent him from appearing before the party’s screening panel. Hon Dagogo had promised to appear before the state police command after the governorship screening if invited.
