Brentford to put in a second bid for Nigeria-eligible winger and German youth international Kevin Schade

ENGLISH Premier League side Brentford have stepped up their interest in Nigeria-eligible winger Kevin Schade with a view to purchasing him from German Bundesliga club Freiburg during the current transfer window.

Schade, 20, is one of the brightest youngsters in German football and Freiburg are reluctant to let leave without a significant transfer fee. Already a German youth international. Schade played 813 minutes in 20 games in the Bundesliga last season, scoring four goals and providing an assist in one.

German publication Kicker has reported that Brentford have prepared another bid after an initial €15m offer was rejected by Freiburg. Klemens Hartenbach, the Bundesliga club's sporting director, has said he is reluctant to sell Schade as he has potential to become an even bigger player.

Schade , a flying winger who is also eligible for Nigeria missed the last two months of the 2021/22 season after an abdominal muscle injury. However, he is expected to be back in the new season and Freiburg are in the driving seat as there is no clause on his contract necessitating discussions if an offer comes for him.

Last season, the winger was the fastest player in the German league, clocking 36.7km per hour. He can also play in a variety of positions across the attack and in the midfield and is rated as one of the best young players in German football.
