First ever West African fibre optics cable factory opened in Ogun State by Governor Abiodun

GOVERNOR Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has commissioned the first ever fibre optic cable factory in West Africa when he opened the Coleman Technical Industries Limited (CTIL) facility in Sagamu.

Speaking at the recent commissioning ceremony, Governor Abiodun approved the provision of more land to the firm to commence the building of a bigger factory next month. This Sagamu facility is the fifth fibre optics cable factory in Africa and the governor promised that it will soon be furnished with a a port to facilitate exports.

Governor Abiodun said: “I understand that Coleman Industries would be commencing the building of another factory that would be three times this current size in the next one month, this I have been hinted that they may require land from the state government. Let me assure you that you already have approval for that land.”

George Onafowokan, the CTIL managing director, said that the factory was built in response to President Muhammadu Buhari’s call for rapid development of digitalization penetration in Nigeria's economy and the drive for local content development in country capacity building driven by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board. He added that the encouragement in the form of incentives by Ogun State formed the basis for which the investment was embarked upon by the company.
