Leeds and Spurs join the race to sign Nigeria-eligible youngster Noni Madueke from PSV

LEEDS United and Tottenham Hotspurs have joined the race to sign PSV Eindhoven's Nigeria-eligible winger Noni Madueke before the close of the summer transfer window ahead of long-term admirers Leicester City.

Madueke, 20, is an England U-21 international who has been impressive since joining the Dutch giants from the Tottenham Academy in 2018. Leicester stepped up interest in him last season after they met PSV in the Europa League and were impressed with him and are hoping to take him to the King Power Stadium.

Now, Leeds United and Spurs also in the race to sign the England youth international as Leicester need to offload some players before bringing in any fresh faces. Madueke has been one of the many England success stories in recent years of a talented player taking their skills to the continent and forging a name for themselves.

One of PSV’s best players since breaking into the first team in 2020, the Dutch club has reportedly valued the youngster at £40m. A confident player who in an interview likened his style of play to that of Lionel Messi, Madueke suffered a tough 2021/22 season spending most of the year out with injury before he bounced back.

After the disappointment season during the last campaign, Leicester have struggled to get off the ground this summer as the club has struggled to sell players to finance purchases. With the season just three weeks away, a Premier league rival with available cash could snatch the youngster away right under the noses of the Foxes.

Madueke is yet to represent England or any country at the senior level but is eligible to represent Nigeria and the Three Lions. He was born in the UK to Nigerian parents, making him eligible to feature for the Super Eagles.
