Anthony Joshua set to take on Tyson Fury in the Battle of Britain on December 3

FORMER world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Oluwaseni Joshua gas agreed terms with rival fighter Tyson Fury to meet in the ring on December 3 in a bout which has been dubbed the Battle of Britain.

On August 20, Joshua failed in his bid to regain his World Boxing Association, World Boxing Organisation and International Boxing Federation  heavyweight titles that he lost last year,  In a development that shocked the sporting world in September 2021, Joshua, 31, was outclassed by Usyk, 34, at the at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, as the Ukrainian secured a unanimous points victory.

Having lost the rematch, Joshua is now looking to get his career back on track and as such accepted an offer from Fury for a 60:40 purse split for the fight dubbed the Battle of Britain. Joshua received a surprise call from Fury, who wanted to fight now as he is not willing to wait around for an unification clash with Usyk next year.

Rather than hang around waiting until next year, Usyk proposed that he and Joshua fight in early November but after intense negotiations, December was agreed upon. Joshua's team have confirmed they accepted terms set out by the team of Tyson Fury ahead of a potential fight on December 3 but are waiting for confirmation that the deal has been accepted.

Frank Warren, Fury's promoter, has since replied: "Contract will be with you very soon." It is expected that the fight will likely be in Cardiff

Joshua and Fury had originally been set to fight in August 2021 before plans were scuppered by an arbitration judge ruling that Deontay Wilder was contractually entitled to a third fight against Fury. Since then, a series of events have conspired to ensure they have not met.
