Christ Apostolic Church campground guard caught after helping himself to contents of offering vault

MEN of the Ekiti State Command have arrested Christ Apostolic Church Campground guard Olufemi Akindele for raiding the church's offering vaults at Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State and stealing N620,115.

 

Mr Akindele, 32, stole the money vault of the Christian Apostolic Church (CAC) Campground at Ikeji Arakeji and then fled to Ekiti State. However, he was intercepted on a motor bike by policemen who were carrying out stop and search along the Igbara Odo-Akure Road and he was found with a school bag loaded with different denominations of naira notes.

 

On Tuesday this week, Mr Akindele, was among 20 suspects paraded by the Ekiti State Police Command at the Rapid Response Squad Office in Ado Ekiti. He confessed that being a former security at the campground before his voluntary resignation, his knowledge of the place gave him an insight of where the church kept its money.

 

Police spokesman Sunday Abutu, said: “During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he travelled all the way from Iropara Ekiti to the CAC Campground, Ikeji, Arakeji, Osun State, to steal a cash sum of N620,115 from the offering vault of the church.”
