Man United told they need to cough up £140m if they want to sign Osimhen this summer

ENGLISH Premier League giants Manchester United have been told by Italian Serie A champions Napoli that they need to come up with £140m if they are serious about signing Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window.

Osimhen, 24, is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment as his goal scoring record over the last few seasons has been phenomenal. His value has further soared after he helped guide Napoli to their first Scudetto win in 33 years, claiming the top goalscorers' spot in Serie A in the process, with 23 goals.

According to the UK tabloid, The Mirror, Manchester United, have been told to pay £140m for Osimhen after agreeing on a deal to sign his Napoli teammate Kim Min-jae. Manchester United scouts were in attendance at Napoli’s Champions League clash against Milan last month and have identified Osimhen as the man to lead their attack next season.

Osimhen still has three years left in his contract at the Stadio Amando Maradona but with his red hot form, a number of European clubs have been linked with securing his services in the summer, with United one of the favourites to land the striker. His Napoli teammate Kim, has already decided to join Man United despite only moving to Naples last year.

After agreeing to pay the £43m release clause inserted in the South Korean’s contract, Man United are now looking forward to sign Osimhen. A deal for the former Lille player is more complicated as no such clause is in place but The Mirror added that Napoli do not consider Osimhen as one of their untouchable players.

According to The Mirror, Napoli have been planning to sell Osimhen since last summer and the signings of Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone, initially on loan deals, were with a long-term view to softening the blow of Osimhen’s departure.  Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reported to be wiling to sanction a sale if an offer in excess of £140m arrives.
