The Northern Nigerian Governors Forum should use Father’s Day as an opportunity to reflect on our Almajiri problem

Almajiri derives from an Arabic word, rendered al-Muhajirun, which translates to a person who leaves his home in search of Islamic knowledge

(1) It has been 18 days into the new government and we are still waiting for President Buhari to name his new ministers. It looks like somethings have simply refused to change. If we were a serious nation really keen on lifting 100m people out of poverty as we have been hearing of late, the government would have hit the ground running with a plethora of job-creating initiatives over the last fortnight

Ekiti man sentenced to six month in prison for stealing basket of kolanuts worth N10,000

EKITI Magistrates Court has sentenced 36-year-old Ige Omotosho to six months imprisonment without the option of a fine for stealing a basket of kolanuts valued at N10,000 ($27.50).

 

Mr Omotosho, whose address was not provided, allegedly committed the offence on June 7 at about 5pm at Ologbara-Gbara farm in Iyin-Ekiti. Prosecutor, Sergeant Olubu Apata, told the court that the convict went to the farm of Mr Obalore Ogunjemilua and stole a bag of kolanuts valued at N10,000.
